In celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, Islamic Relief USA, a faith-based non-governmental organization, has distributed meat valued at $20,000 to approximately 1,000 households across 20 communities located within Bauchi State’s protected game reserve zones.

The benefiting communities are from Yankari, Lame Bura, Mala Dumba, and Sumu Wildlife Park. Each beneficiary including elderly persons, widows, orphans, and other vulnerable groups received three kilograms of meat as part of the humanitarian gesture.

Speaking during the event, Alhaji Muhammad Garba Boyi, Programme Manager for Northern Nigeria at the Nigeria Conservation Foundation (NCF), explained that the project was fully funded by Islamic Relief USA and implemented through NCF.

Boyi emphasized that the intervention aims to support the poorest communities residing within the protected zones, helping them to celebrate the religious festival with dignity and a sense of inclusion.

He called for prayers for the donors and stressed the importance of preserving the spirit of the initiative.

Boyi also noted that the project is designed to foster goodwill and encourage local communities to take active roles in safeguarding the reserves against encroachment and vandalism.

“We are optimistic that with continued coordination and the disciplined conduct of beneficiaries, Islamic Relief USA will remain committed and may even scale up its interventions in the future,” Boyi stated.

Representing the Bauchi State Government at the event, Dr. Muhammad Nasiru Yusuf, Managing Director of the State Tourism Development Corporation, commended Islamic Relief USA for the impactful donation.

He reiterated Governor Bala Muhammad’s commitment to partnering with organizations focused on the state’s development.

Community leaders also expressed gratitude. Ilya Adamu of Duguri, Abdullahi Adamu of Yuga (Lame Bura), and Ahmad Dauda of Pali each praised the donors and urged other organizations to emulate the gesture.

Beneficiaries such as Aishatu Yunusa and Yakubu Muhammad, visibly delighted, extended heartfelt prayers for the donors and requested continued support from other philanthropists.
