Bauchi forum defends Sen. Buba, dismisses ‘baseless’ allegations
By Ahmed Ahmed
The Bauchi Forum of Gentlemen (BAFOG) has strongly condemned recent media reports linking Senator Shehu Buba Umar of Bauchi South to wanted bandit kingpin Bello Turji and accusing him of demolishing a church in Plateau State to build a mosque.
At a press briefing in Bauchi, BAF0G coordinator Malam Ibrahim Yakubu Muhid described the allegations as “false, mischievous, and politically motivated” ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group recalled similar claims in the past including those made by Governor Bala Mohammed which were dismissed after security agencies found no evidence.
“Senator Buba’s record as Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, and his long-standing commitment to peace in Northern Nigeria, speak for themselves.
He cannot be linked to any criminal element,” Muhid said.
On the Plateau church allegation, BAF0G called it “laughable” and legally impossible, accusing detractors of using religion to incite division.
The forum passed a vote of confidence in Senator Buba, pledging full support for his re-election bid.
They urged politicians, media, and the public to uphold truth, warning against the dangers of spreading unverified claims.
