2027: North-East Elders, Youths to Purchase APC Nomination Form for Buni
By Ahmed Ahmed
A coalition of elders and youths from Nigeria’s North-East has announced plans to purchase the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, ahead of the 2027 senatorial election.
The group, operating under the North-East Elders and Youths Forum and led by its National Chairman, Alhaji Salisu Magaji Gombe, disclosed the decision at the end of its Executive Council meeting held in Bauchi.
Magaji said members drawn from the six North-East states contributed funds to procure the forms, which they intend to present to the governor as a show of support and encouragement for him to contest the Yobe East (Zone A) senatorial seat.
He explained that the gesture was informed by Buni’s track record in governance, describing him as a committed democrat with inclusive leadership qualities and a strong sense of national unity.
“At this stage of Nigeria’s democratic journey, leaders with courage and integrity are needed in the National Assembly to strengthen oversight and promote accountability,” Magaji said.
He added that Buni’s leadership in Yobe and his role in fostering cohesion within the APC demonstrated his capacity to represent not only Yobe East but the wider North-East region.
Magaji urged the governor to heed the call and accept the nomination, stressing that his experience remained vital to national development.
