The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Special Operations Command (SOC) has concluded its second quarter road march exercise, reaffirming its commitment to combat readiness and operational efficiency.
The Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Special Operations Command, AVM Ahmed Idris, said the exercise was a key component of the Air Force training programme aimed at enhancing physical fitness and battlefield preparedness.
Idris, represented by the Chief of Staff to the AOC, AVM Solomon Lazarus, spoke at the conclusion of the exercise in Bauchi.
He commended officers, airmen and airwomen for their discipline, resilience and professionalism throughout the exercise.
According to him, their performance demonstrates the service’s determination to maintain a highly motivated and combat-ready force.
The AOC described the road march as more than a physical fitness exercise, saying it was a strategic tool for improving operational effectiveness.
He said the exercise would further strengthen personnel capacity in ongoing counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations across the country.
Idris added that the training would also enhance the force’s ability to support efforts against kidnapping, cattle rustling, cultism and other security threats.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to working with other security agencies to promote peace and stability nationwide.
The AOC expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Ahmed Aneke, for his support towards personnel welfare, logistics and training.
He said the support contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the exercise.
Idris urged personnel to sustain regular physical training beyond the exercise, stressing that fitness remained essential to operational efficiency and combat readiness.
He said the exercise ended with renewed commitment by participants to national service and the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.
