Shehu of Borno Receives Chadian Author, Discusses Kanem-Bornu Heritage

The Shehu of Borno, His Royal Highness Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, has received Chadian writer Aboubakar Nour in an audience focused on the history, culture and shared heritage of the Kanem-Bornu civilisation.
During the visit, Nour presented the monarch with his latest book, The Kanem-Bornu Summits: Towards a Renewed Unity and a Common Destiny, which explores the historical and cultural ties connecting communities across the ancient Kanem-Bornu region.
The author said the book reflects the enduring bonds among the peoples of the region and highlights the importance of preserving their common historical memory and cultural heritage.
The Shehu welcomed the initiative and acknowledged the importance of documenting and promoting the history and traditions shared by the peoples of Kanem-Bornu.
The meeting brought together elements of traditional leadership and literature in an effort to preserve the region’s historical heritage and deepen awareness of its common cultural identity.
The Kanem-Bornu civilisation historically extended across territories that are today part of Nigeria, Chad, Niger and neighbouring areas.
