FG Approves 50% Electricity Subsidy for Hospitals

The Federal Government has approved a 50 per cent subsidy for electricity consumed in hospitals across the country.

The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced this on Thursday in Barnawa, Kaduna.

Alausa said the gesture was aimed at reducing the running costs for public hospitals and alleviating the impact on patients.

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, had earlier promised that the Federal Government would subsidise electricity in hospitals and universities, even if they are on Band-A feeders.

However, Adelabu noted that the government would not subsidise private businesses operating in these institutions.

The subsidy arrangement is yet to be detailed by the Ministry of Power.
