Beneficiaries of the ongoing Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs) distribution exercise in Yobe have commended the state government and its partners for ensuring a smooth and transparent process.

The exercise, which was recently flagged off in Damaturu, targets the distribution of over two million treated nets across the 17 local government areas of the state to prevent malaria.

Yobe had earlier benefited from similar campaigns in 2019 and 2021, which contributed to a noticeable decline in malaria infections among women and children.

A beneficiary, Aisha Usman, expressed gratitude to the organisers for their commitment to improving public health.

She said the nets would greatly assist families in protecting themselves from mosquito bites, especially during the peak malaria season.

“I am very happy with the process. Everything is organised, and we collected our nets without stress. I thank the government and their partners for remembering us,” she said.

Another resident, Nana Musa, praised the distribution team for their patience and efficiency.

She described the exercise as a “well-planned and transparent” initiative that demonstrates government commitment to citizens’ welfare.

“I commend the the distribution teams for their professionalism and respect for community members. It shows how much effort has gone into this exercise,” she added.

Similarly, Aisha Abubakar lauded the collaboration between the Yobe Government, National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), and partners such as the World Health Organisation (WHO), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and Catholic Relief Services (CRS).

She urged other residents to come out and collect their nets, adding that proper use of the treated nets would significantly reduce malaria-related illnesses and deaths in the state.

The beneficiaries collectively called on the organisers to sustain the periodic distribution and replacement of treated nets to consolidate the gains recorded in previous campaigns.
