250 disabled persons, vulnerable groups receive Ramadan cash support in Yobe

The Office of the Focal Person on People Living with Disability to Governor Mai Mala Buni has distributed Ramadan cash support to 250 persons with disabilities and other vulnerable residents in Yobe.
The Focal Person, Mr Abubakar Umar, flagged off the distribution on Thursday in Damaturu.
He describing the intervention as part of efforts to cushion the economic challenges facing beneficiaries during the fasting period.
He said the initiative was designed to promote inclusivity and ensure that persons with disabilities and other disadvantaged groups benefit from social welfare programmes in the state.
Umar explained that the beneficiaries cut across persons with disabilities, including deafs, blinds, amputees, among persons with other forms of disability.
He added that women, elderly persons, and other vulnerable members of society also benefited from the financial assistance to broaden the reach of the intervention.
According to him, the gesture aligns with Gov. Buni’s administration’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations, particularly during periods of heightened economic demand such as Ramadan.
Umar expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve and for the continuous support extended to the office in implementing programmes targeted at improving the welfare of residents.
He also stated that the office would, by the grace of God, explore the possibility of another round of assistance before the end of Ramadan to support beneficiaries ahead of the forthcoming Sallah celebrations.
Some of the beneficiaries commended the focal person for the gesture, describing the cash support as timely and impactful.
Malam Maryam Usman expressed gratitude to the state government for prioritising the welfare of persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups.
She called on other stakeholders and philanthropists to emulate the initiative to complement government efforts in alleviating hardship.
Babagana Bukar, another beneficiary also urged sustained collaboration between government and community actors to strengthen social protection mechanisms and enhance the livelihoods of less-privileged individuals across the state.
