The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Food Corporation (NFC), Dr Babagana Mohammed Adam, has concluded a strategic working visit to China aimed at advancing food security and revitalising agro-industrial assets in Yobe.

Adam led a delegation that inspected modern production systems and held engagements with global manufacturers as part of efforts to strengthen the corporation’s operational capacity.

The visit also facilitated the signing of a major agreement with FAW Trucks and Machinery to enhance NFC’s transportation and logistics infrastructure for agricultural production and distribution.

According to the NFC boss, the partnership is expected to improve the movement of farm inputs and finished products, thereby strengthening the agricultural value chain in Yobe.

The delegation also held discussions with Hongdefa Machinery Co. Ltd on possible technology transfer and the establishment of a production workshop in Nigeria.

Adam said the proposed collaboration could support local manufacturing capacity and create employment opportunities in the agro-processing sector.

He added that the engagements formed part of broader efforts to reposition the corporation as a key driver of agro-industrial development in Yobe and across the country.

The NFC chief noted that strengthening logistics, processing technology and production systems remained critical to achieving sustainable food security.

Adam expressed optimism that the outcomes of the visit would contribute to building a resilient and competitive agro-industrial base capable of supporting national food security and economic growth.
