The Wunti Al-Khair Foundation, a non-profit organisation, has trained 130 commanders drawn from various Islamic aid groups and volunteer organisations to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr prayer celebration across Bauchi State.

The two-day training workshop, organised in collaboration with the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), was held on Sunday in Bauchi and brought together participants from different Islamic organisations operating in the state.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Ishiyaka Wunti of the foundation said the initiative was designed to strengthen coordination and safety measures at Eid prayer grounds across the 20 Local Government Areas of the state.

According to him, the training adopted a “train-the-trainers” approach, where the 130 commanders will subsequently train thousands of volunteers who will be deployed to various Eid grounds to assist in crowd control and safety operations.

“Recognising the importance of safety and organisation during Eid, the Foundation has trained volunteers in crowd control strategies, traffic management, emergency response preparedness and the role of volunteerism,” he said.

Wunti explained that the training also focused on modern emergency response systems, including search and rescue operations for missing children during large religious gatherings.

He added that the initiative was informed by the need to safeguard worshippers and ensure order before, during and after the Eid prayers.

The participants were drawn from several Islamic organisations, including Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), JNI and other faith-based groups.

The foundation also donated food items and clothing materials to participants, including bags of rice and traditional “Shadda” fabric for male trainees, as part of its Ramadan support programme.

Wunti said the initiative reflects the vision of the foundation’s founder, Bala Wunti, whose values of compassion, generosity and social responsibility continue to guide its humanitarian interventions.

He urged participants to effectively utilise the knowledge gained and step it down to other volunteers to ensure peaceful and well-organised Eid celebrations across the state.

The Chairman of the Joint Islamic Aid Groups in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Sani, said the training aimed at providing participants with both basic and technical skills in search and rescue of missing children, crowd and traffic management, emergency response and risk communication.

Sani noted that the programme, themed “Safeguarding and Salvaging Our Children, Minors and Ensuring Hitch-Free Sallah Celebrations,

” would help create a conducive atmosphere for peaceful Eid celebrations.
He added that similar training had contributed to reducing cases of missing children during previous Sallah celebrations
