NTIC holds annual Qur’anic recitation competition in Yobe

The Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC), Yobe Campus, held its annual Qur’anic recitation competition (Musabaqa) on Saturday, with about 300 students participating.

Mr. Hasibullah Jogi, the Girls’ Section Principal, NTIC, Yobe State Campus said the competition featured different categories, including five Hizb, 10 Hizb, and 30 Hizb.

He explained that the students recited the Holy Qur’an by heart. Mr. Jogi noted that the school has a total student population of 890, with approximately 300 participating in the Musabaqa.

The Principal stated that the programme was organised by the school management and sponsored by the Yobe Government.

He expressed his gratitude to the state government, under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni, for its continued support of the school.

Mr. Bukar Ali Bukar, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic Education, said the ministry is the supervising body for the school.

He emphasised that the ministry ensures the school adheres to the state’s curriculum.

Mr. Bukar expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the competition and said the government and people of the state are proud of the school management, as the students’ performances are commendable.

Dr. Umar Abubakar, the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Arabic and Islamic Board, said the board is responsible for Qur’anic recitation competitions at the local government, state, and national levels.

He explained that the competitions was meant to encourage students across the state to excel in Qur’anic recitation.

Dr. Abubakar also mentioned that preparations are underway to conduct similar programmes for Almajiri students in the state.
