A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe, Alhaji Kashim Musa-Tumsah, has donated a 16 KVA solar-powered generator to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat.

The Yobe NUJ Chairman, Alhaji Rajab Mohammed, confirmed the development while inspecting the installation of the facility in Damaturu.

Mohammed said the donation fulfilled a pledge made by Musa-Tumsah during a recent engagement with journalists at the secretariat.

“He promised to support the press centre with a solar-powered system during his visit, and he has fulfilled that commitment,” he said.

He described the gesture as a demonstration of leadership credibility and commitment to supporting media operations.

The chairman expressed appreciation for the donation, noting that it would address persistent electricity challenges affecting activities at the secretariat and its multi-purpose hall.

Mohammed said reliable power supply was essential for effective information dissemination and day-to-day journalistic operations.

Our Correspondent reports that Musa-Tumsah made the pledge after observing that the existing gasoline generator at the facility was overstretched.

He had noted that efficient media practice depended on steady electricity to power communication gadgets and other equipment.
