Wunti Seeks Transparent APC Governorship Primary in Bauchi
By Ahmed Ahmed
A frontline governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, Bala Maijama’a Wunti, has appealed to party leaders and electoral officials to ensure a free, fair and transparent governorship primary election scheduled for Thursday.
The appeal was conveyed by the Chairman of the Wunti Support Group (WSG), Muktar Jarmajo, during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Bauchi on Wednesday.
Jarmajo said the credibility of the exercise would strengthen internal democracy within the party and allow delegates to freely choose the candidate capable of leading the APC to victory in the 2027 governorship election.
According to him, Wunti remains the most qualified among the contestants seeking the party’s ticket, citing his experience, competence and leadership capacity.
The former Chief Upstream Investment Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited expressed confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe and the Bauchi State APC Chairman, Muhammad Hassan Tilde, to ensure orderliness and transparency during the primary election.
Wunti described party primaries as a critical aspect of democracy through which members determine who carries the party’s mandate into the general election.
He urged APC members across the 20 local government areas of the state to support his aspiration and participate peacefully in the exercise, while also calling on party faithful to promote unity, discipline and lawful political engagement.
