INEC displays voter registers in Jigawa, says 33,097 PVCs ready for collection

Dutse, Oct. 10, 2026 The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Jigawa, says it has began displaying voter registers across the 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

Prof. Muhammad Bashar, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, disclosed this at a press conference on Friday in Dutse.

Bashar said the seven-day exercise, which commenced today at all Registeration Areas (RAs) across the state, will provide an opportunity for registered voters to verify their details, make claims and objections and also collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

“The of PVCs has began across the RA levels and this will continue from today until Oct. 15th, then the process will continue at LG levels from Oct. 16 upwards,” Bashar said.

He however, said the 33,097 PVCs ready for collection are for those who registered between Aug. 2025 and Dec. 2025 for transfer, corrections or replacement.

“The total number of PVCs received and are ready for collection is 33,079 and only for those who registered from Aug. 2025 and Dec. 2025.

“So as at now, we received incidents cards, including transfers, corrections and damages amounting to 33,079. So PVCs from the first phase of the Continuous Voter Registration conducted from Aug.to Dec. 2025 would be available for collection at the electoral wards during the voter registers display period,” he said.

The INEC official further disclosed that the state, with 287 registeration areas, 4,522 polling units, three senate consititencies, 11 federal consitiencies, 31 state consituecies and 27 LGAs, has an existing voter registrants of 2,351.298.

According to him, no fewer than 515,878 new voters were captured recently in the state in the Continues Voter Registration (CVR) exercise that took place in three consecutive phases.

“So put this all together, you will have 2,867,176 registrants. However, the 515,787 registrants that were captured during the CVR have yet to be fully authenticated. They’re going through a process of clean up, known as Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS).

“And when it is completed, this figure will now form the authentic number of registrants in Jigawa state,” the REC said.
