NHIA holds 2nd stakeholders engagement in Yobe
National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) hold another stakeholders’ sensitisation engagement on critical developments and initiatives in order to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) on Thursday in Damaturu, Yobe state.
The NHIA State Coordinator, Alhaji Muhammad Mustapha said they realised that many people are not well informed about the whole concept of health insurance in Nigeria.
He stated that the management of NHIA felt there was need to sensitise civil servants and the general public on the recent developments and innovations introduced in the NHIA Act 2022 signed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The new NHIA act 2022, mandates every Nigerian, both in public and private sectors as well as all other residents in Nigeria to get a health insurance.
He explained that the Act addressed the conflict of interest that existed in the NHIS and also empowered the NHIA to serve as regulator of Health Insurance Schemes in the country.
Muhammed added that at end of the programme, the NHIA expected to see positive changes from the habit of all the stakeholders.
