
First Lady Tinubu empowers 500 Bauchi women with N50,000 grants

The Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered 500 women entrepreneurs in Bauchi State with grants of N50,000 each under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Economic Empowerment Programme in partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation.
Sen. Tinubu was represented at the programme on Saturday in Bauchi by the North-East Coordinator of RHI and wife of Bauchi State Governor, Dr. Aisha Mohammed.
She said the programme targets 18,500 women nationwide, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
“Each beneficiary will receive N50,000 to recapitalize or strengthen their businesses.
“This is not a loan but a seed grant to support the entrepreneurial spirit of women traders and small-scale business owners who work daily to provide for their families and uplift their communities,”
“When you empower a woman, you empower a household, a community, and a nation,”the First Lady said.
She commended the Tony Elumelu Foundation for its N1 billion donation to RHI, stressing that 500 women from each state and the FCT will benefit.
Tinubu also praised Gov Bala Mohammed and his wife for their support in implementing RHI programmes in Bauchi, while assuring that beneficiaries across the state’s 20 local government areas would be monitored to ensure judicious use of the grants.
Meanwhile Dr Mohammed said as part of our continued commitment to grassroots development in the we empowerment Fulani communities across all the 20 Local Government Areas in Bauchi State,
“As well as some Fulani communities in Bauchi metropolis, making a total of 25 groups.
“In this initiative, 21 groups will each receive ₦300,000, amounting to ₦6,300,000 in total. Furthermore, each of the 25 groups will receive 5 bags of rice, making a total of 125 bags among others,” he said.
Bauchi Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Babantakko, urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the funds to grow their businesses.
On her part, Mrs. Zainab Ibrahim, who represented the Tony Elumelu Foundation, reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to uplifting livelihoods across Africa.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Maryam Sani from Alkaleri Local Government expressed gratitude to the First Lady and Bauchi State Government, pledging that the women would use the grants to boost their businesses and improve family welfare.
