Bauchi University warns against fake admission letters circulating
By Ahmed Ahmed
The Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Bauchi, has raised alarm over the circulation of fake admission letters falsely linked to the institution.
According to a statement released by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Auwal Hassan at weekend says fraudsters have been issuing fake documents.
Titled “Provisional Letter of Admission into Bauchi State University, Gadau, Bauchi State for the 2025/2026 Session” to deceive unsuspecting applicants.
The university emphasized that SAZU is a distinct institution and should not be confused with Bauchi State University, Gadau (BASUG). The Management expressed concern that scammers are exploiting the name similarity to commit fraud.
SAZU clarified that all legitimate admissions are processed only through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) and the university’s official portal. No admission letters for the 2025/2026 academic session have been released outside these channels.
The statement also warned applicants to disregard any demands for payments such as “acceptance fees” to unauthorized persons or accounts.
Prospective students, parents, and guardians are advised to verify admission status via JAMB CAPS or the SAZU Admissions Office, and report suspicious activities to the University’s Security Unit or law enforcement.
SAZU reiterated its commitment to pursuing legal action against individuals involved in the scam. For authentic updates, visit www.sazu.edu.ng.
