Adamawa transmits N150 million to UNICEF, UNFPA -Agency

Adamawa government has transmitted N150 million to United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as counterpart funds to improve on healthcare service delivery on citizens.

Dr Suleiman Bashir, Chairman Adamawa Primary Healthcare Development Agency ADPHCDA disclosed this on Wednesday in Yola at the media dialogue ahead of the forthcoming National Immunization Day Plus (NIDP).

He said that the state government is committed and has done a lot to improve on the well-being of people in the state.

“Resource wise just yesterday we transmitted N150 million, 100 to UNICEF and 50 to UNFPA.

“In the month of June, we transmitted N30 million to UNICEF to get RUTF commodities to support the nutrition of children and at the end of last year we transmitted N200 million among others”, he said.

Dr Bashir explained that funding is a commitment of the state government and when it paid the partners also supported the state with 100 per cent.

According to him, Adamawa state is in the forefront in terms of paying counterpart funds in the country.

He added that the state government is doing well also in the area of infrastructure to improve facilities up to standard.

“We have over 80 Primary Healthcare facilities with brand new structures, solar power 24 hours with solar water supply among many other things aimed to provide quality health services in the state”, he said.

Dr Bashir appreciated the effort of media practitioners in the state and solicited their cooperation in sensitising the people in the state.

According to him, the next immunization campaign in the state is coming up on December 6th to 9th across 21 Local Government Areas.

He further appreciated the effort of partners and other stakeholders holders for their support and cooperation in the state.

In his remarks, Dr. James Vasumu, Director, Disease Control and Immunization of ADSPHCDA also commended journalists and urged them to continue as more awareness creation is expected for people to understand that the vaccine is safe and effective.
