The African Health Budget Network (AHBN) has called on key stakeholders in Bauchi State to critically review the implementation of the Zero Dose Learning Hub (ZDLH) with a view to strengthening immunisation service delivery in 2026.

The call was made by the Chief Executive Officer and Convener of AHBN, Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, during a meeting with media executives and Executive Directors of non-governmental organisations on Thursday in Bauchi.

Dr. Magashi commended the Bauchi State Government, members of the Zero Dose Learning Hub Community of Practice (CoP), and other high-level stakeholders for the remarkable achievements recorded in 2025.

He noted that stronger collaboration among the media, civil society organisations, academia, and government institutions through the CoP framework would further enhance immunisation outcomes in the state.

He challenged members of the Community of Practice from academic institutions to undertake operational and policy-relevant research capable of generating credible evidence for action.

According to him, evidence-based advocacy remains critical to addressing gaps in immunisation financing, reducing zero-dose children, and improving overall health service delivery.

Earlier, the Co-Chairman of the AHBN Board, Hon. Usman Mohammed, highlighted the strategic role of the legislature in ensuring sustainable immunisation financing. He stressed the need for budget increases, timely release of allocated funds, and effective oversight.

He also called for the sustained use of the AHBN-supported Accountability Framework, particularly the Immunisation Financing Scorecard developed for 2023, 2024, and 2025, as a tool for evidence-driven decision-making.

In his remarks, the Bauchi State Focal Person of AHBN, Dr. Hassan Shuaibu Musa, acknowledged that the implementation of the Zero Dose Learning Hub in the state has contributed significantly to the timely release of immunisation funds over the years.

He attributed these successes to sustained advocacy and strong government support.

Dr. Musa specifically commended the Bauchi State Government and the Primary Health Care Development Board, led by Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, noting that Bauchi State has gained national recognition for the early release of 100 percent of its budgeted immunisation funds.

The Co-Chair of CoP also shared insights on strengthening collaboration to improve immunisation coverage, reduce zero-dose cases, and address vaccine stock-outs across health facilities in the state.
