Concerned youth stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State have protested the disqualification of Alhaji Hassan Kafayos from the party’s Zone C Senatorial primaries held on Monday.

The group, operating under the banner of Concerned Yobe State APC Youth Stakeholders for the Re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, described the action as troubling and politically risky for the party in the state.

In a statement made available to journalists in Damaturu, the youths said the increasing cases of last-minute exclusion of aspirants could trigger dissatisfaction among party loyalists and weaken the APC’s grassroots support base.

They warned that such developments might affect the party’s performance in future elections, including efforts to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

The stakeholders accused unnamed interests within the party of attempting to force unpopular candidates on members, insisting that internal democracy should not be sacrificed for personal political interests.

They called on the national leadership of the APC to urgently intervene and ensure fairness in the conduct of party primaries in Yobe State.

The group also urged party leaders to adopt dialogue and transparency in resolving internal disputes in order to protect the unity and credibility of the APC.
