The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Yobe State Directorate, officially launched the 2025 World Children’s Day celebration at the INOL Orphanage Foundation in Potiskum, with a strong call for improved child welfare through education and skills development.

The event, led by the Acting State Director, Alhaji Muhammad Tikau, brought hope and excitement to the children at the orphanage, many of whom beamed with smiles as they participated in the activities marking the global day dedicated to their rights and wellbeing.

This year’s theme, “Enhance the Total Wellbeing of the Child through Quality Education and Skill Development,” resonated deeply with the caregivers and children at the foundation, as speakers emphasized the need for inclusive learning opportunities for every child, regardless of background.

In her welcome address, the Founder and Executive Director of INOL Orphanage Foundation, Hajiya Hauwa Bah-Abubakar, expressed gratitude to NOA for selecting the orphanage as the venue for the flag-off.

“This visit means so much to these children,” she said, her voice filled with emotion. *”Many of them have faced hardships no child should endure. When government agencies and kind-hearted individuals show them love, it reassures them that they are valued and have a place in society.”

She described the event as a morale booster for the orphans, reinforcing their sense of belonging and motivating them to dream big.

Alhaji Muhammad Tikau, in his remarks, praised Hajiya Hauwa for her dedication to vulnerable children and called on well-meaning Nigerians to support child protection initiatives.

“The fight against child exploitation, out-of-school children, and neglect requires all hands on deck,” he said. *”We must emulate people like Hajiya Hauwa, who have shown that love and care can transform lives.”

Addressing the children directly, Tikau encouraged them to embrace good morals, patriotism, and education as pathways to success. “You are the future of Nigeria. With the right values and skills, you can achieve greatness,” he told them, drawing cheers from the excited children.

The event was not just about speeches—it was a day of laughter, games, and bonding. NOA staff engaged the children in interactive sessions, while gifts and educational materials were distributed to support their learning.

For little Aisha, 9, who lost her parents to insurgency, the day was unforgettable. “I felt happy when they played with us and told us we can be doctors and teachers,” she said shyly, clutching a new notebook.

As the celebration ended, the message was clear: every child deserves love, education, and a chance to thrive. NOA reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for policies that protect and empower Nigerian children, ensuring no one is left behind.
