By Ahmed Isah
All 17 Local Government Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe have endorsed Alhaji Baba Malam Wali as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for 2027.
The endorsement was announced at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Monday at the Arts and Culture Conference Hall, Damaturu, attended by party leaders from state, local government and ward levels.
The chairmen said the decision reflected the genuine will of grassroots members rather than a top-down directive, noting that the choice had gained wide acceptance across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the chairmen, the Chairman of Yunusari Local Government Area, Alhaji Bamariu Muhammad Kaltum, declared their collective support for Wali’s candidacy.
Kaltum said ward executives and party faithful had already embraced the decision, describing it as a reflection of unity within the party structure.
Also speaking, the APC Zonal Chairman, Zone C, Alhaji Sabo Lamido, said the endorsement demonstrated alignment and mutual understanding across all levels of the party.
“This gathering reflects grassroots loyalty to the party leadership. We wholeheartedly accept the choice made by the party,” he said.
In his remarks, the Deputy State Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Alamai Baba Kankare, who spoke on behalf of the State Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Gadaka, commended party leaders for their unity.
Kankare described the development as evidence of strong cohesion within the APC in Yobe and urged members to remain steadfast and united.
