2027: Bauchi ADC Backs Atiku, Seeks National Rescue
By Ahmed Ahmed
The Bauchi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally endorsed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
It could be recalled that the ADC presidential screening committee had cleared Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and Mohammed Hayatudeen to contest the party’s primary election scheduled for Monday, May 25, in Abuja.
The endorsement was announced on Sunday in Bauchi by the State Chairman of the party, Shuaibu Dankama, during a gathering of party leaders, stakeholders, youths, women groups, professionals and supporters across the state.
He described Atiku as the most experienced and competent leader capable of rescuing Nigeria from its current socio-economic and security challenges.
Dankama said the decision followed extensive consultations among party stakeholders and was based on the need for credible leadership to address rising inflation, unemployment, poverty and insecurity confronting the country.
According to him, Nigerians are yearning for a leader with vision, courage, experience and national acceptance, qualities he said Atiku possesses.
He noted that the former vice president had contributed significantly to Nigeria’s socio-economic reforms and democratic development, particularly through policies that strengthened the private sector and encouraged investments.
The ADC chairman described the endorsement as a demonstration of confidence in Atiku’s capacity to provide purposeful leadership, restore hope and reposition Nigeria on the path of unity, stability and prosperity.
Dankama assured the party’s presidential candidate of the loyalty and commitment of ADC members in Bauchi State towards securing victory for the party in 2027.
He also called on party members to remain united, disciplined and committed to democratic ideals.
He stressed that electoral success could only be achieved through grassroots mobilisation, sacrifice and collective determination.
The chairman further urged youths and women to actively participate in the democratic process, saying their involvement would play a decisive role in shaping Nigeria’s future.
He commended the national leadership of the ADC under David Mark for strengthening the party into what he described as a formidable opposition platform ahead of the 2027 elections.
