Ex-Bauchi Gov. Abubakar Wins APC Governorship Ticket

Former Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The results of the primary were announced in the early hours of Saturday by John Bassey Abang, Chairman of the APC Governorship and House of Assembly Primaries Committee for Bauchi State.

Abang disclosed that the exercise was conducted on Friday, May 22, across the state and involved seven aspirants contesting for the party’s governorship ticket.

According to the committee chairman, Abubakar secured a total of 57,517 votes to clinch victory over his opponents and emerge as the APC flag bearer for the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State.

The immediate-past Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, came second with 26,001 votes.

Other aspirants who participated in the exercise included Nura Manu Soro, who scored 13,638 votes, while Bala Maijama’a Wunti> polled 13,648 votes.

Also in the race were Kabir Baba Ma’aji with 8,157 votes, Baba Abubakar Suleiman who garnered 7,688 votes, and Yakubu Yakubu Abdullahi with 7,181 votes.

The outcome sets the stage for a keen political contest in Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
