A media report alleging that Senator Shehu Buba, representing Bauchi South, was booed during a condolence visit to Toro has been firmly denied by his aide, who described the story as false, misleading, and a deliberate act of mischief.

Speaking to journalists, Ibrahim Ori, an aide who accompanied the senator during the visit, refuted the claims weekend in Bauchi

“Our attention was drawn to a media publication alleging that Senator Shehu Buba was booed over alleged neglect. This report is entirely false and lacks any basis in fact.”

Ori criticized the publication for repeatedly using the term “alleged” throughout the story, stating,

“When a journalist isn’t sure of the facts, professional ethics demand that the story be dropped. Repeating ‘alleged’ in nearly every paragraph raises questions about the reporter’s credibility.”

He emphasised that the senator’s visit to Toro was peaceful and well-received. During the condolence visit, Sen. Buba donated N65 million to various causes in the community:

N50 million for mosque construction, N5 million to the family of the deceased, N5 million to community elders,N5 million to the youth

“No incident of booing occurred while the senator was present.

“If anything happened after his departure, it should not be linked to him,”Ori maintained.

He further stressed the critical role journalists play in national development, urging media professionals to uphold truth, fairness, and integrity especially at a time when Nigeria faces serious socioeconomic and security challenges.

“Responsible reporting and constructive storytelling are essential to promoting public understanding and national unity.

“Unfortunately, some individuals seem intent on fabricating stories to serve personal agendas of malice and division.”Ori said.
