No fewer than 117 media practitioners were trained on capacity building in order to enhance public awareness on Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRESS) in Adamawa

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the training was organised by L-PRESS in collaboration with Dunable Dynamic Concept on Monday in Yola.

NAN reports that information officers and social media handlers were among the participants drawn across the 21 Local Government Areas of Adamawa.

Alhaji Tijjani Marksha, state Commissioner for Livestock and Aquaculture Development, said the training focused on project documentation and documentary production.

Marksha, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Suleiman Amin, said that the project had impacted positively on the lives of many pastoralists.

He said, the training was timely, saying, ”As information is the bedrock for any development.”

He urged the participants to apply the knowledge acquired in practice toward achieving the objective of the training.

L-PRESS Coordinator, Mr Alfa Secondee, said that the aim of the training was to enhance public awareness and buy-in L-PRESS project developmental objectives.

According to him, the training is the 10th in the series of capacity building for stakeholders in the state in 2025.

”The target beneficiaries are pastoralists, who are in remote villages; many people are unaware of the project’s impact in the state capital,” he said.

Secondee called on the participants to be good ambassadors of the project in the state by providing credible information to the public for easy understanding and effective service.

Mr Iliya James, the state Commissioner for Information, commended L-PRESS for the training of information managers, who were responsible for creating awareness in their respective areas.

Ms Jessica Bakari, one of the participants, appreciated the capacity building training and assured to apply the knowledge acquired into practice.

According to her, the training has improved her experience on the activities of L-PRESS and how to create awareness for the public for more understanding of the project.
