Members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) across the 17 Local Government Areas of Yobe State have declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The decision was announced on Saturday in Damaturu during a stakeholders’ meeting attended by party coordinators, political actors and members of the Arewa Strategic Implementation Group for Atiku (ASIGA).

Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim Jawa, Chairman of the ADC in Yobe and Founder of ASIGA, said the decision followed extensive consultations among party stakeholders and supporters across the state.

Jawa said members of the movement unanimously requested him to lead the political transition from the ADC to the APC.

According to him, the alignment was informed by the need to promote political stability, unity and continuity of governance in Yobe and the country at large.

“I hereby accept your call for strategic political alignment with the APC and encourage members to commence peaceful consultations and engagements in support of the administration and political vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections,” he said.

The ADC chairman described the move as a product of patriotism, responsibility and political foresight rather than personal interest.

He commended Gov. Mai Mala Buni for sustaining peace, infrastructural development, youth empowerment and inclusive governance in Yobe.

Jawa also acknowledged the political influence and mentorship of the Minister of Police Affairs, Sen. Ibrahim Gaidam, for promoting stability and continuity in the state.

He further endorsed the choice of Baba Malam Wali as the preferred successor for the 2027 governorship race, saying the decision reflected the desire for continuity among party stakeholders.

Jawa urged supporters and members of the movement to remain peaceful, disciplined and united throughout the political transition process.

Earlier, Mr Abubakar Garzali, State Leader of Yobe ADC United from the 17 LGAs, said members resolved to support the realignment after reviewing political realities within the party.

Garzali praised Jawa for providing strategic leadership and grassroots mobilisation that strengthened the ADC structure in Yobe during and after the 2023 elections.

He said the stakeholders believed joining the APC would provide a broader platform for political inclusion and development in the state.

Similarly, the ASIGA State Coordinator in Yobe said members of the group had resolved to support President Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda through the proposed alignment with the APC.

The coordinator added that the decision represented the collective position of stakeholders and members of the movement across the state.
