Who truly represents Machina? Group asks political actors to prove community ties
By Ahmed Isah
A political stakeholder from Taganama Ward in Machina Local Government Area of Yobe has called on individuals seeking political relevance in Machina to demonstrate genuine ties and contributions to the community.
The stakeholder, Mr Garab Adamu, made the call in a statement issued on Sunday in Damaturu.
Adamu said leadership and representation should be based on sincerity, service, sacrifice and visible commitment to the people rather than political convenience.
He said the people of Machina deserved leaders with verifiable history, strong community relationships and clear records of contribution to local development.
“Community identity is not about political appearances or seasonal visits.
“It is about long-term relationships, consistent presence and meaningful contributions to the growth of the community,” he said.
Adamu said a true representative of any community should be known by the people through active participation in their joys, challenges and developmental aspirations.
“He supports the youth, attends community activities and stands with the people beyond periods of political interest,” he said.
The stakeholder said residents had the right to demand accountability and clarity from anyone seeking political relevance in the name of the community.
According to him, public figures claiming association with Machina should be open about their background, relationship with the town and contributions toward its development.
“What has been the individual’s relationship with the town?
“What measurable contributions has he made toward the development of the community?
“How consistently has he identified with the people outside political seasons?” he asked.
Adamu said the concerns being raised were not personal attacks but legitimate demands for responsible and accountable leadership.
He urged the people of Machina to remain united and support only individuals with genuine connection and commitment to the community.
“In the end, identity should not be reduced to a slogan or political tool.
“It must be demonstrated through service, presence, credibility and loyalty to the people,” he said.
