The Adamawa state government has set to empower no fewer than 72,000 small business owners with N3.75 billion, says Dr Micheal Zira, Director General, Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA).
Zira disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Yola that Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri has approved the fund for immediate distribution.
He said the programme known as “Fintiri Business Wallet” is aimed to empower beneficiaries for economic development across 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
“Because of transparency of what we did with other agencies in the previous years, poverty has reduced from 72 per cent to 60 in the state.
“And I am sure this year our poverty level should be reduced to 40 per cent by his grace”, he said.
According to him, the government has spent worth N12 billion in two years for empowerment programmes.
He added that the form and data capture will be done concurrently for one week from May 18
He called on the beneficiaries to be calm during Data capture as everyone will be attended.
He also urged those who were not able to get the form to be patient and wait for the next batch as more empowerment is in the pipeline before the end of the present administration.
Dr Zira commended Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri for his commitment for empowering the citizens at the grassroots.
