Police Launch Manhunt for Suspects in Brutal Rape, Murder of Teenager in Gashua

The Yobe State Police Command has declared a massive manhunt for suspects following the brutal rape and murder of a 16-year-old girl in Gashua, Bade Local Government Area.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, has directed detectives to deploy all necessary resources to ensure the swift arrest of the perpetrators, describing the act as “barbaric, unacceptable, and deeply disturbing.”
The incident came to light on the morning of November 16, 2025, when the Police Divisional Headquarters in Bade received a distress call from Mai Anguwa Idris Haruna of Dadin Kowa Ward.
According to a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the caller reported that a young girl, identified as Sadiya Suleiman of Sabon Gari Ward, was found in a pool of blood with her throat slit near the New Prison Fence in Gashu’a.
Police detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene and evacuated the victim to the Specialist Hospital, Gashu’a.
A subsequent medical examination revealed that the deceased had been raped and brutally attacked before being killed.
“The investigation has since commenced with a view to identifying, tracing, and arresting the perpetrator(s) behind this heinous crime,” the statement read.
The Police Command is now appealing to the public for assistance. It urged members of the community to provide credible and timely information that could lead to the apprehension of the culprits.
“The cooperation and support of the public towards ensuring the arrest of the culprit(s) is highly solicited and appreciated,” SP Abdulkarim stated.
The case, with reference number CZ: 5300 / YBS / SHQ / PPRO / VOL.2 /92, has sent shockwaves through the Gashua community, with residents calling for swift justice for the slain teenager.
